It’s been quite a year, hasn’t it? To post that I have only just completed my first wedding of 2020 seems incredibly strange. Usually the life of a wedding photographer over the summer months is one of shoot, edit, repeat. Weekends are rarely our own. And yet this year, 2020, has thrown a huge spanner in the works. Weddings have been postponed until 2021 and plans turned on their heads.

And yet, I was lucky enough to be recommended to Michèle and Mark for their wedding celebrations at The Black Horse Inn in Thurnham (https://www.blackhorsekent.co.uk/) . This is a lovely venue in beautiful grounds and with a ceremony room large enough to accommodate my couple and their small wedding party. It’s all the new norm, regulations and law changing when necessary and plans being made to accommodate those.

This lovely couple had originally planned their wedding back in March .. and then postponed … and then postponed again. But they were able to finally celebrate with a small, intimate group of family and friends and although my coverage was short, it was wonderful to be back behind the lens.

As you can see from the ring box, the original date was changed …

The bride was nervous … but excited. She was very much looking forward to marrying the man she loves.

And they did indeed get married, socially distanced and with the guests (and me) wearing masks. It does rather change the dynamic of a wedding but nonetheless, the celebrations and the smiles and the love is still very evident.

We took portraits and some family photographs ensuring that appropriate bubbles were in place (the restrictions have since changed and I don’t doubt will change again). The gardens at the Black Horse are beautifully kept and it’s easy to find a spot …

Michèle and Mark were happy. So happy that, finally, they were married and could put all the postponements and worries behind them. The garden room at the Black Horse was beautifully decorated and the floristry from Jackie Brooks Florist (http://www.jackiebrooksflorist.co.uk/) was quite stunning.

Although my coverage was short, we still managed to capture everything that we needed to. Wishing you much love and happiness, Michèle and Mark, and thank you for being my first wedding of 2020!
